Thomas Douglas Homan (born November 28, 1961) is an American former police officer, immigration official, and political commentator who served during Barack Obama’s presidency and the first Trump Administration. He served as acting director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from January 30, 2017, to June 29, 2018. He advocates deportation and opposes sanctuary city policies. Within the Trump administration, he was among the most strident proponents of separating children from their parents as a means of deterring illegal entry into the country and curbing human trafficking. The 2024 State of the Union Address was given by the 46th president of the United States, Joe Biden, on March 7, 2024, at 9:00 p.m. EST, in the chamber of the House of Representatives to the 118th Congress. On January 6, House Speaker Mike Johnson formally invited Biden to address the joint session of Congress. It had been planned to take place two days after Super Tuesday. The speech was expected to provide Biden a chance to address issues such as the economy, democracy, abortion rights, the United States–Mexico border crisis, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the Israel-Hamas War.
