Brightwater Center and natural area is King County’s promise to its neighbors that the state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant is a community amenity. Three miles of trails connect the Brightwater Center to art, restored wetland habitat and stormwater treatment ponds (North Wetscape and South Wetscape).

The Brightwater Treatment Plant, which treats waste and storm waters for King County, opened in 2011. To ensure that the treatment plant would be an asset to its host community, the campus was designed to include an Environmental Education and Community Center and a 70-acre public open space with walking trails and natural wetland habitat. The Brightwater Center’s three miles of trails yield a fascinating, family-friendly hiking experience through wetlands and woodlands that serve as a protected enclave for native wildlife and plant species.

Brightwater is a regional sewage treatment plant in south Snohomish County, Washington, United States. It serves parts of the Seattle metropolitan area and was opened in 2011. The plant construction and associated tunneling were a five-year megaproject costing $1.8 billion.
