Was Windows 1.0’s lack of overlapping windows a legal or a technical matter? (retrocomputing.stackexchange.com)Windows 1.0 didn’t have overlapping windows; it wasn’t until Windows 2.0 that overlapping windows were introduced. Obviously, with the small screen resolutions of the day, not having overlapping windows made having multiple windows visible challenging, at best. As someone who didn’t touch Windows until v2 and not in any real capacity until 3.1, I only looked back at these older versions many years later.
