- On the morning of 26 August 2026, a series of flash floods along the Trishuli River struck dozens of settlements in Nepal’s Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts. The floods also affected the Gyirong Port area on the China–Nepal border, an important gateway for cross-border trade and tourism. The resulting flash floods and mudslides caused massive damage to populated areas, with officials reporting at least 162 confirmed deaths in Nepal and three in China. Authorities have issued flood warnings for communities along rivers in the Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan districts.
