- Lotus corniculatus is a flowering plant in the pea family Fabaceae, native to grasslands in temperate Eurasia and North Africa. Common names include common bird’s-foot trefoil, eggs and bacon, birdsfoot deervetch, and just bird’s-foot trefoil, though the latter name is often also applied to other members of the genus.

McCoy Creek is a small to moderate sized stream which originates in a handful of small lakes on the north slope of the mountains due south of the town of Sultan. As the creek makes its final tumble to meet the Skykomish River it produces a surprisingly significant waterfall considering how low in the valley and how close to the Puget Sound lowlands it is. The falls have a total drop of 58 feet as the creek veils out across a semi-bulbous cliff face before contracting into a narrow sluice at its base. Just upstream from the falls is the remnants of a small concrete dam which suggests the stream was at one time used for a small amount of hydro power (it likely isn’t old enough, nor is the stream big enough to have been related to mill operation).
