Although it is common to refer to the bridges both to the north and south of Pass Island collectively as the Deception Pass Bridge (and the NRHP designation embraces both), technically that name belongs only to the bridge south of the island. The bridge to the north (entirely in Skagit County; the south end of the Deception Pass Bridge is in Island County) is properly the Canoe Pass Bridge.
