Menkar (stars.astro.illinois.edu) MENKAR (Alpha Ceti). Cetus, the Sea Monster (or Whale), appears to move backwards across the sky, his tail (illuminated by Deneb Kaitos) rising first, Menkar, at the leading (eastern) edge of his head, rising last.
