The Priest Rapids Unit lies along the east bank of the Columbia River. The land is relatively flat and during ancient glacial floods was intermittently under water, resulting in a thin layer of soil covering a mostly river cobble substrate. A boat ramp provides access to the Columbia River.

Middle Fork Nooksack Falls is the largest and most significant waterfall found along its namesake river (below the toe of the Deming Glacier at least) on Mount Baker. The falls occur about 2 miles downstream of the toe of the Deming Glacier where the river plunges over a step of volcanic bedrock in the valley floor and thunders a total of 81 feet in steps of 16 and 66 feet respectively…
