Round Lake is a natural lake, but a dam was built in 1883, raising the water level about 12 feet. Today’s dam is actually the third on the site, a 1930s construction that replaced two earlier wooden structures. The walkway atop the dam weaves around handles and gears used to manually open and close the spillways.
