- On June 29, 1833, an earthquake shakes the Puget Sound region. William Tolmie (1812-1886), the young Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) doctor recently left temporarily in charge of Fort Nisqually, records the event in his journal. His journal entry is the first surviving eyewitness account of an earthquake in the region.

First of the three Pastoral Epistles, 1 Timothy is a letter of the Greek New Testament traditionally attributed to the apostle Paul and addressed to his younger colleague Timothy at Ephesus. Written in Koine Greek in the first century AD, it gives instructions on sound teaching, public worship, care for widows, and the qualifications of overseers and deacons.
