- Ferry County, carved out of Stevens County in 1899, is bounded by British Columbia on the north, Stevens County on the east, Lincoln County on the south, and Okanogan County on the west. Its county seat is Republic.

Duck Lake is a shallow, marshy expanse in the overflow plain of the East Fork Lewis River. It is rimmed by a dense growth of wapato (Sagittaria latifolia). Duck Lake is managed by the state as part of the Mount Saint Helens Wildlife Area.
