- Tradition Plateau Natural Resources Conservation Area (NRCA) is a 426-acre property owned by the City of Issaquah on the north side of Tiger Mountain within the Issaquah Alps. The site includes approximately 403 acres of forest and 23 acres of Puget Sound Energy power line right-of-way. Elevations span from roughly 200 feet near Interstate 90 to 900 feet in the southeast corner, encompassing flat plateaus, steep north-facing slopes, forested wetlands, and small lake basins at Tradition Lake and Round Lake. Coarse, gravelly glacial soils dominate the Plateau and are characterized by rapid drainage and low water-holding capacity, making drought stress one of the primary ecological concerns for tree establishment and long-term forest resilience.
